Fire performers have long wanted to work with coloured flames. Past attempts with random chemicals often produced weak colour, inconsistent results, and costly, hard-to-find supplies. Flame Dye makes coloured fire simple and reliable.

Each bottle contains a special blend of metal salts and conditioners.
Mix one bottle with 1 litre of denatured alcohol to create coloured fire fuel.
Available colours: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue.

⚠️ Works only with alcohol-based fuels (not kerosene or other hydrocarbons).

Most metal salts don’t dissolve in petroleum fuels.
Water cools the flame; too much reduces colour and can stop ignition.
Flame Dye is formulated for maximum solubility in pure alcohols and strong alcohol–water mixes.
No extra water needed.

1 bottle of Flame Dye.
1 litre of suitable alcohol fuel (see Fuel Guide).
Safety gear: plastic gloves and eye protection.

Use a 1L fuel container with space for ~50ml dye.
Slowly add the dye; swirl to mix (mixture may warm).
Cap the bottle and wash off any spills immediately.
Fuel props in a fuel bath and return excess to the bottle.
Keep containers sealed — alcohol vapour is highly flammable.

Always use outdoors in open air.
You are fully responsible for safe handling and use.
Do not leave open containers of alcohol.
Never use soda bottles; use solvent-resistant plastic containers.
Do not store in metal containers (corrosive risk).

May contain compounds of Ammonia, Boron, Calcium, Copper, Lithium, Sodium, Strontium, and others.
Treat all components as potentially harmful.
Wear gloves and eye protection.
Rinse skin/eye spills with water immediately; seek medical help for eye exposure.
Not suitable for fire breathing — never ingest treated fuels.

Produces byproducts similar to fireworks: metal oxides, acid vapours, smoke particles.
Consider dust masks rated for metal/acid fumes if concerned.
Alcohol flames can be hard to see; handle with care.
Extinguish spills with water or a wet towel.

Ensure props are cool before fuelling.
Do not stand over the prop when lighting.
Light at arm’s length, face away.
Beware of vapour fireballs and burning spray on spin-up.

Small amounts can be diluted with water and disposed of into municipal sewage systems.
Do not pour into drains, soil, or waterways.

Best: Methanol — clear burn, strongest colors (highly toxic and flammable; handle with extreme care).
Second best: Ethanol (96% or industrial dry ethanol).
Easiest to obtain: Denatured Alcohol (e.g., shellac reducer, purple “meths”).
Avoid: Isopropanol, Acetone, camp-stove fuels, rubbing alcohols — flames are too luminous and mask colors.
